SFA lift ban on Strachan

Celtic manager Gordon Strachan has been found not guilty of misconduct by the Scottish Football Association following the defeat at Hearts last month.

The Hoops boss appeared before an SFA disciplinary panel today in relation to an alleged incident in the Tynecastle tunnel at half-time during his team’s 2-1 defeat on August 6.

Strachan had already been dismissed by referee Stuart Dougal for a touchline bust-up with Hearts assistant coach John McGlynn.

After serving a two-match ban for his original ‘dismissal’, the Celtic boss is now free to return to the dug-out.

A statement on the club’s official website, www.celticfc.net, said: “Gordon Strachan will be in the Celtic dug-out for tonight’s CIS Cup tie against St Mirren after the SFA’s disciplinary committee found him not guilty of misconduct following the recent league game against Hearts at Tynecastle.

“The Celtic manager had already served a two-match ban for being sent to the stand during that game by referee Stuart Dougal.

“But he appeared before the disciplinary committee today following allegations of a further incident in the tunnel at Tynecastle.”
