Former England right-back Danny Mills is set to join Hull on a two-month loan from Manchester City.

Former England right-back Danny Mills is set to join Hull on a two-month loan from Manchester City.

The 29-year-old defender is out of favour at Eastlands, where Micah Richards is preferred by Stuart Pearce, and is expected to accept the challenge of dropping into the Coca-Cola Championship with the bottom-placed Tigers.

Hull chairman Adam Pearson was commercial director at Leeds at the time Mills played for the Elland Road club.

Pearson told The Yorkshire Post: “It is a big move for us, but we are bottom of the league and have to invest in order to hopefully move away from the wrong end of the table.

“I know Danny from my time at Leeds and I know he is coming for the right reason, to play football.

"Providing the deal goes ahead, he will be a great addition to our squad and bring a wealth of experience.”
