Makalele set for Chelsea return

Claude Makelele is expected to return to the Chelsea team for their Champions League opener at home to Werder Bremen.

Makelele was rested from Saturday’s win at home to Charlton after his international duty with France.

Joe Cole is also close to a comeback after his pre-season knee injury.

He trained with the team at Stamford Bridge today but Arjen Robben is still out with an ankle problem.
