Two changes for England

Steve McClaren made two enforced changes from the side which had overcome Greece 4-0 last month for his first competitive match as England manager against the minnows of Andorra.

The Manchester United defensive pairing of Gary Neville and Rio Ferdinand were ruled out through injury and replaced by Phil Neville and Wes Brown respectively.

The Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe partnership was given another chance up front in the absence of Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen, with Andy Johnson on the substitute’s bench.

Andorra are ranked 132nd in the world and achieved only one competitive win in their history – against England’s next opponents Macedonia in 2004.

McClaren is mindful of their tough tackling tactics and Andorra had the worst disciplinary record in the 2004 World Cup qualifiers – 34 yellow and three red cards.
