Arsenal mid-fielder Silva Gilberto insists Theo Walcott represents the future of Arsenal and is confident the club will nurture him carefully despite the negative publicity surrounding the teenager regarding his inclusion in the ill-fated English World Cup squad.

Walcott (aged 17), came off the bench to make his Premiership debut in the 1-1 draw against Aston Villa on Saturday. He supplied the cross for Gilberto’s late equaliser and now looks set for his European debut in the Champions League qualifier against Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday.
