Mikael Silvestre and Park Ji-Sung have committed their long-term futures to Manchester United.

The Old Trafford outfit confirmed this afternoon that both players had extended their present deals, in Silvestre’s case until 2009, while Park will remain with the Red Devils until 2010.

It had been thought Silvestre would leave United this summer, having been told by Sir Alex Ferguson his chances would be limited following the January arrivals of Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra.

However, Silvestre opted to stay in the north-west and fight for his place and, just a month after being part of the French squad which reached the World Cup final, his hard work has been rewarded.
