Keane dropped to bench against Wigan

Tottenham head coach Martin Jol dropped Robbie Keane to the bench for the clash against Wigan, with Mido and Jermain Defoe preferred to lead the attack at White Hart Lane.

Keane scored against Sunderland last week but Jol made changes following the disappointing draw at the Stadium of Light, with Danny Murphy brought into the starting line-up at the expense of Jermaine Jenas.

Wigan kicked off in ninth place knowing they could move to fifth with a win, and boss Paul Jewell also made changes.

Striker Henri Camara had incurred Jewell’s wrath through a late return from African Nations Cup duty with Senegal but he started as Jason Roberts was still suspended and David Connelly was injured.

Pascal Chimbonda returned from a ban and Leighton Baines was also recalled as Matt Jackson, Gary Teale and Reto Ziegler – who could not play as he is on loan from Spurs – dropped out.
