Miller thrilled by Keane meeting

Kenny Miller claims a chance encounter with Roy Keane at Parkhead confirmed the enormity of his move from Wolves to Celtic.

The former Rangers player signed a pre-contract with the Hoops last week and will join the Glasgow giants in the summer.

Miller, 26, told the News of the World how meeting the Irishman was a boost to his confidence.

He said: “Meeting Roy Keane was the moment which hammered home to me just what a massive club I was signing for.

“I had been out taking a look at that amazing stadium and I was buzzing as I walked back down the tunnel with Peter Lawwell (Celtic chief executive) and my agent Dave Baldwin when suddenly a door opened and there was Roy Keane standing in front of me.

“I’m normally a pretty confident sort of guy but my initial reaction was, ’My God, I’m going to be playing alongside him next season!’

“Then the thought crossed my mind, ’I wonder if he even knows who I am?’

“Thankfully I needn’t have worried because Roy immediately smiled and asked, ‘Hi Kenny, how are you doing?’

“He asked if I was signing now or in the summer and I told him I was likely to be signing in the summer.

“He shook my hand said, ’ Brilliant, it’s good to have you on board.’

“You have no idea how much of a boost that brief meeting gave my ego.”
