Reyna extends Eastlands stay

American midfielder Claudio Reyna has signed a new one-year deal with Manchester City.

The 32-year-old, currently sidelined with an ankle injury, was due to be out of contract this summer.

However, he will now head off to the World Cup finals in Germany with his immediate future secured.

Reyna told the club’s official website, www.mcfc.co.uk: “I’m excited about the deal.

“I was looking forward to signing the extension. The club’s going in the right direction and it’s nice because we have everything in place to continue the success over the next few years.

“It’ll be nice to represent the club at the World Cup and it’s just nice to know your future too, and that the manager knows that I’d like to stay here.

“I like where the club’s going and it’s a great place to play your football. There’s really nowhere else I’d like to go.”
