Manchester United profited from two defensive lapses to grab an interval lead over Bolton in their Premiership clash at Old Trafford.

Bruno N’Gotty’s eighth-minute own goal put United in front, then an ill-advised back header from Tal Ben Haim gifted Louis Saha a second just before the break.

It was just as well too for the Red Devils, who had dominated the contest but were made to pay for a host of missed chances when Gary Speed nodded Bolton briefly level.
