Middlesbrough will be without Chris Riggott for Sunday’s Barclays Premiership clash with Tottenham at the Riverside Stadium.

The 25-year-old is suspended after being dismissed at Liverpool last weekend, although midfielder Fabio Rochemback, who was ineligible for the 2-0 UEFA Cup victory over Litex Lovech, returns to the squad.

Manager Steve McClaren is likely to recall the likes of Mark Schwarzer, Gareth Southgate, George Boateng, Aiyegbeni Yakubu and Mark Viduka, although Gaizka Mendieta (calf), Stuart Parnaby and Szilard Nemeth (both hamstring), Stewart Downing and Ray Parlour (both knee) and Tony McMahon (shoulder) remain on the sidelines.

Provisional squad: Schwarzer, Jones, Bates, Queudrue, Pogatetz, Southgate, Ehiogu, Wheater, Boateng, Doriva, Morrison, Rochemback, Johnson, Kennedy, Yakubu, Hasselbaink, Viduka, Maccarone.
