Solskjaer lift for United
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made his long-awaited comeback for Manchester United tonight.
The 32-year-old striker played the first 45 minutes against Liverpool at Hyde United’s ground.
About 3,000 fans turned out and welcomed back the Norwegian after a 19-month absence.
He only returned to training with the first team last week after prolonged knee surgery.
Solskjaer’s last appearance came in May last year when he played six minutes of the FA Cup final victory against Millwall.
He was given a warm reception when he came out for the warm-up and ran freely in the first half in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
He had a couple of efforts that were scrambled away and also made one or two good challenges in a display which will have heartened manager Alex Ferguson.
