Birmingham striker Emile Heskey is battling to be fit for Monday’s Premiership clash against West Ham at St Andrews.

Heskey suffered a knee injury in the Carling Cup win at Millwall and the extra 48 hours over the weekend has given him a more optimistic chance of being available.

The midfield trio of Damien Johnson, Neil Kilkenny and Muzzy Izzet plus skipper Kenny Cunningham will all return after being rested for the visit to the New Den.

Jermaine Pennant has shaken off a hamstring strain but fellow winger Julian Gray has suffered a reaction to his recent knee injury and could be doubtful.

Team (from): Vaesen, Maik Taylor, Melchiot, Upson, Martin Taylor, Cunningham, Clapham, Pennant, Kilkenny, Johnson, Butt, Dunn, Clemence, Izzet, Jarosik, Gray, Lazaridis, Heskey, Pandiani.
