Reading no match for Arsenal
Arsenal 3 Reading 0
Arsenal handed out a lesson in top-class finishing to Coca-Cola Championship leaders Reading as their young Carling Cup side reached the quarter-finals for the third consecutive season.
Arsenal’s youngsters – with an outfield starting line-up aged 22 or under - ended Reading’s 23-match unbeaten run in all competitions with some ease as they made the visitors pay for some profligate finishing.
In contrast, Jose Antonio Reyes ended a 12-game run without a goal after 13 minutes before Robin van Persie struck for the eighth time in eight games and substitute Arturo Lupoli rounded off the scoring with a neat finish.
