Kenny signs new Blades deal
Sheffield United goalkeeper Paddy Kenny has signed a contract extension which could keep him at Bramall Lane until summer 2010.
Kenny, 27, first joined the Blades on loan from Bury in July 2002 before signing a permanent deal three months later and going on to record 157 appearances to date.
And now Kenny, who has five caps for the Republic Ireland, has put pen to paper on a new deal which will keep him at the club until 2009 with the option to extend for a further season.
Boss Neil Warnock told the club’s official website: “From first seeing Paddy all those years ago – in very different shape – I’m very pleased he’s fulfilled the promise I saw in him.
“He’s become a top keeper at Championship and international level.
“I can honestly say I wouldn’t swap him for any keeper in the Premiership, except maybe Petr Cech and I can’t afford him.”
