Given to start against Switzerland despite picking up a slight injury

Ireland goalkeeper Shay Given picked up a slight ankle injury in this morning’s training, ahead of Wednesday's make-or-break World Cup qualifier against Switzerland.

Given picked up a kick on the ankle while playing outfield in a five-a-side game at the end of training, but both Given and manager Brian Kerr maintained that he would be fit to start on Wednesday evening.
