Keeper Kelly injured in mid-table draw

Longford Town 1 Bray Wanderers 1

Longford goalkeeper Shay Kelly may have suffered a serious back injury, overshadowing this mid-table tussle at Flancare Park.

Kelly collided with his skipper Sean Dillon to land awkwardly on his back midway through the first half. He required eight minutes of treatment on the pitch before being taken off on a stretcher and later to Tullamore hospital with a suspected broken vertebrae.

Kieran O’Brien put Bray in front on nine minutes with a sweetly struck volley. Town levelled from Dave Mooney’s penalty in first half stoppage time.

Longford right-back Stephen Gough was sent off on 66 minutes for a second booking, with Town missing three sitters as Bray held out for a point.
