George Best is “out of immediate danger” and could be moved from intensive care in the next 24 hours as the Manchester United legend fights a serious kidney infection, according to his doctor.

Professor Roger Williams, the doctor in charge of Best’s care at the Cromwell Hospital in west London, said the former European Footballer of the Year is improving steadily.
