Ferguson laughs off Porto 'sour grapes'

Rangers skipper Barry Ferguson has accused Porto of “sour grapes” for their “laughable” accusations.

Rangers skipper Barry Ferguson has accused Porto of “sour grapes” for their “laughable” accusations.

Brazilian playmaker Diego felt he had been brutally treated in the 3-2 defeat by the Gers at Ibrox on Tuesday while team-mates Jorginho, Pepe and Vitor Baia also made complaints.

But Ferguson told the Scottish Sun: “It’s sour grapes and that’s it, that’s my response to Porto.

“If that’s their chat then they are simply searching for excuses.

“Diego didn’t last the game and perhaps people should examine their own performance at times.

“I’m stunned by their remarks to be honest. What are they on about?

“I just find it laughable in truth that they should put the defeat down to being supposedly kicked off the par.”

Diego said: “I came to Glasgow fearing I would be kicked and I was. But they didn’t just kick me.

"They kicked anything in a yellow shirt.

“I have never been involved in a match like it. It was very, very physical.”
