Speed to miss Bolton's European debut
Gary Speed is almost certainly out of Bolton’s UEFA Cup debut against Lokomotiv Plovdiv at the Reebok Stadium tomorrow night.
With the club preparing to play in Europe for the first time with a first round, first leg against the Bulgarians, manager Sam Allardyce confirmed midfielder Speed has a hamstring problem “that is probably enough to keep him out”.
Goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen and striker Kevin Davies both had light workouts due to ankle knocks but should play, while Radhi Jaidi has an outside chance of figuring after a recent injury lay-off.
Provisional squad: Jaaskelainen, Hunt, Nolan, N’Gotty, Speed, Giannakopoulos, Campo, Pedersen, Okocha, Gardner, Davies, Nakata, Borgetti, Diouf, O’Brien, Faye, Jaidi, Walker.
