West Brom start for Ellington
West Brom manager Bryan Robson picked the perfect opportunity for Nathan Ellington to make his first start for the club – just four weeks after his £3m (€4.4m) move from Wigan.
Ellington, who scored 67 goals in 146 appearances for the Latics, partnered another former Wigan striker in Geoff Horsfield in attack for the Baggies as they looked to get back to winning ways after successive defeats to Chelsea and Birmingham.
With Kevin Campbell making way for Ellington, Robson made one other change, recalling Martin Albrechtsen to the side in place of Zoltan Gera, who picked up a knock on international duty with Hungary.
Wigan boss Paul Jewell handed a debut to David Connolly, signed on transfer deadline day for £2m (€2.9m) from Leicester, joining one-time Albion forward Jason Roberts up front.
Ryan Taylor was the man who made way as Jewell reverted to a 4-4-2 formation compared to the 4-5-1 for the 1-0 win over Sunderland a fortnight ago.
