Derry win keeps pressure on Cork
Derry City 3 Longford Town 1
Derry produced another fine home display to brush aside Longford and make it 19 games unbeaten to stay second in the table.
Derry hit the front in the 15th minute of a lively match.
Gareth McGlynn whipped over a cross from the right and Pat McCourt got on the end of it at the back post to head past Shay Kelly.
McGlynn then added a second for a dominant Derry on 31 minutes when beating the offside trap from a free-kick to fire home.
Gary Beckett was instrumental in Derry’s third goal in the 63rd minute, setting up McGlynn to net his second of the night.
Alan Cawley replied for Town from a superbly struck 85th minute free-kick.
