West Brom manager Bryan Robson continued his rotation policy by making six changes from the side beaten 4-0 at Chelsea for the visit of Steve Bruce’s side.

Robson opted to give a Premiership debut to midfielder Darren Carter, who moved from Blues to Albion this summer.

Another former Birmingham player – Geoff Horsfield – was restored to the attack alongside Kevin Campbell as Robson switched from a 4-5-1 to a 4-4-2 formation.

Bruce was looking for a positive response from his side after home defeats against Manchester City and Middlesbrough and Emile Heskey returned up front after recovering from the hip problem sustained at Fulham on the opening day.

Mikael Forssell was also brought back into the first XI with Bruce also deciding to play a 4-4-2 formation after experimenting with 4-4-1-1 against Boro.
