Woodward begins new Saints role
Clive Woodward insists he will not undermine Harry Redknapp at Southampton as the pair aim to get the club back in the Premiership.
Woodward, the Rugby World Cup winner, will work predominantly with the Saints’ younger players alongside academy director Huw Jennings, and has declared his delight at being given the chance to work for the club.
“There has been a lot said in the press implying I would be taking over the team but that is not my role,” Woodward told the club’s website, www.saintsfc.co.uk.
“My role is very clear, I am working for Harry Redknapp but I will not be coaching the team.
“I am going to sit back and watch, listen and learn. I have a huge amount to learn and this is a great opportunity for me. I intend to grasp it with both hands.”
