Report: Bergkamp offered new Gunners deal

Dennis Bergkamp has been offered a one-year contract at Arsenal, according to the BBC.

The Dutch striker had hoped to be awarded an extension by the end of the season but the matter was still unresolved at the conclusion of the Premiership season – despite Bergkamp being on top form.

The 36-year-old was part of the Gunners team which defeated Manchester United today on penalties in the FA Cup final at the Millennium Stadium but did not take a spot-kick after being substituted in the second half.

A firm favourite with the Arsenal fans, it now appears the former Ajax forward will enter his 10th season at Highbury.
