The 26-year-old’s contract with Plymouth Argyle expires this summer and he is keen to return to Ireland. Already, Cork have held talks with the defender, though with Shelbourne et al also interested, they are by no means certain of landing the defender who starred for Ireland in the 1997 World Youth Championships.

Meanwhile, Cork City manager Damien Richardson is to have a summer clearout as he prepares for the rest of the season with up to 10 players likely to be moved on during the transfer window as he cuts back on the mammoth 33-man squad he inherited from Pat Dolan.
