Robben out of Bayern clash

Arjen Robben has admitted that he will not be available for the first leg of Chelsea’s Champions League quarter-final clash against Bayern Munich after a scan on Sunday revealed the winger has suffered a strained ankle tendon.

Robben will be re-examined on Tuesday or Wednesday but the 21-year-old told Dutch television programme Studio Sport that he will still be out of action with his latest injury setback when Chelsea host Bayern on Wednesday, April 6.

“It is difficult to say how many weeks I will be out, but it is clear that it (the injury) is not good,” said Robben.

“Armenia (on Wednesday) and Bayern are out of the question in any case.”
