Manchester United shook off their Champions League blues with a four-goal FA Cup demolition of Southampton at St Mary’s.

The holders were never tested once skipper Roy Keane had fired them into an 87-second lead and they eventually coasted into the last four.

Cristiano Ronaldo doubled United’s lead just before the break, then Paul Scholes added a second half double to leave the sorry Saints to concentrate on their battle to avoid the drop.
