Ajax hunt Spurs boss Jol
Tottenham head coach Martin Jol has emerged as the frontrunner to succeed Ronald Koeman as coach of Ajax.
Dutch media reports say that Jol has been identified as the prime target of the Amsterdam club since Koeman fell on his sword on Friday.
“Martin Jol is Ajax’s number one candidate,” headlined the www.vi.nl website. The preference for Jol is also widely reported elsewhere.
Frank Rijkaard’s assistant at Barcelona Henk ten Cate has also been linked with the vacancy but Jol remains the preferred choice of the Amsterdam board.
Jol, in charge of RKC Waalwijk last season, moved to Tottenham as part of a new coaching structure under sporting director Frank Arnesen and head coach Jacques Santini.
When Santini quit, Jol was promoted to succeed him.
