Veron wants to stay at Inter when loan deal ends

Juan Sebastian Veron wants to remain at Inter Milan when his loan deal expires at the end of the season.

The Argentina midfielder joined the Italian giants in the summer from Chelsea and told their official website, www.inter.it: “I always see myself only at Inter.

“I will have to wait and see what the club decides because there are many things to consider, but my wish is certainly to remain here.”

The 29-year-old has made 15 of a possible 25 league appearances, scoring twice. He has also played in all six of the team’s Champions League games and is expected to start against Porto tomorrow night.

Inter remain unbeaten in Italy’s top flight but 16 draws have hindered their Scudetto ambitions.

However, the former Manchester United midfielder hopes Inter can shine in Europe’s elite club competition.

“We have grown a lot since the start of the campaign,” said Veron. “We are more mature. The only thing we have lacked is continuity.”

Veron cost Manchester United £28m (€40m) when they bought him from Lazio in July 2001 but failed to impress at Old Trafford and joined Chelsea for £15m (€21m) in August 2003.
