Fans rally behing struggling Norwich

Norwich have already sold £1.4m (€2m) worth of season tickets for the 2005/06 campaign, even though fans are not certain which division their club will be playing in come August.

Some 6,500 supporters have pledged their commitment to the struggling Canaries by securing seats for next season, a figure which is around 3,000 up on the same period last year when Norwich were on course for promotion to the Barclays Premiership.

More than 1,000 have also paid out £50 (€72.30) to go on a waiting list for season tickets since they went on sale on January 24.

“The fact that so many people have committed themselves early speaks volumes for the loyalty of our fans,” said Norwich’s director of sales and marketing Andrew Cullen.

“We all know that our Premiership status is far from guaranteed, but that hasn’t stopped them from snapping up season tickets at an amazing rate.”

Cullen added in the Eastern Daily Press: “Supporters have until March 5 to get the best deal so we’re expecting to remain very busy.

“Last season 8,500 supporters renewed their season tickets before the first deadline, so it will be interesting to see if we can beat that figure this time around.”

The Canaries may currently be third bottom of the table, but demand for tickets remains high and a new section of the club’s ground is set to be opened in time for the match against Manchester United on April 9.
