Roy Keane to miss Portugal friendly

Manchester United skipper Roy Keane has pulled out of Republic of Ireland’s friendly against Portugal on Wednesday with a knee injury.

Keane scored the opening goal in his side’s 2-0 win over Birmingham at Old Trafford today but given the number of important fixtures United have the next month, manager Alex Ferguson revealed he did not want his captain to play in midweek.
