Arsenal through with 2-0 win over Wolves

FT: Arsenal 2 Wolves 0

Two second-half goals saw a strong Arsenal side safely through to the fifth round of the FA Cup in a hard-fought encounter at Highbury.

Captain Patrick Vieira slotted home a penalty after Thierry Henry had been brought down by Wolves goalkeeper Michael Oakes just after the interval.

And then Freddie Ljungberg ended a period of incessant Arsenal pressure by smashing home the second from six yards after good work by Robert Pires and Henry.

Robert Pires replaced Reyes in the 70th minute and wave after wave of Arsenal attacks bore down on the Wolves goal. Too often, however, it was over complicated when simplicity might have put the game safe.

The all-important second goal did not come until the 81st minute, though when it did it was worth the wait.

Good work from Pires on the left threaded the ball to Henry in the penalty area and his twist fed the pass through for Ljungberg who smashed the ball into the roof of the Wolves net from six yards.
