Bellamy camp await developments

Newcastle striker Craig Bellamy is no nearer a move to Birmingham this morning as his agent is still awaiting official confirmation of a bid from the midlands club.

The Magpies last night revealed they had accepted a £6m (€8.7m) offer from Blues for the striker, who was yesterday told he had no future at the club after a very public war of words with manager Graeme Souness.

However, the Wales international’s agent Steve Horner is still waiting to hear of City’s approach.

“The situation has not moved on at all,” he told the Press Association.

“I will hopefully speak to Newcastle this morning.”

Birmingham’s bid came with barely 72 hours of the January transfer window remaining, and Bellamy will have little time to complete the deal.

However, he knows he has no future on Tyneside after branding Souness a "liar" following a breakdown in their relationship last weekend.

Yesterday the no-nonsense manager said: “He can’t play for me ever again. He can’t go on television and accuse me of telling lies.

“I’m not going to dwell on it, but I think in most walks of life, that would be the case.

“The situation has been addressed regarding Craig Bellamy. It was always going to happen, whether it would be a month or six months.”
