Smith ready for Cup recall

Alan Smith is poised for a Carling Cup recall for Manchester United tomorrow after recovering from the ankle injury he picked up in the first leg of the semi-final at Chelsea.

The former Leeds striker has missed three games since but trained today and should be involved as United look to seal their second final appearance in three seasons.

Darren Fletcher (ankle) definitely misses out but skipper Roy Keane, who is suspended from Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Middlesbrough, is set to make his first appearance in the competition this season.
