Wayne Rooney was at the centre of controversy as Manchester United kept up the pressure at the top of the Premiership table.

Bolton manager Sam Allardyce claimed the England striker was lucky not to be sent off by referee Dermot Gallagher after his side lost 2-0 at Old Trafford.
