Bruce wants to keep Savage
Birmingham manager Steve Bruce has insisted he does not want to sell midfielder Robbie Savage during the January transfer window.
Savage is being constantly linked with a move to either Blackburn and Everton but Bruce has made it clear he is not looking to offload the Welsh international.
Instead the Blues chief is looking to bring in new blood with a striker one of his priorities to add support to Emile Heskey, Clinton Morrison and Dwight Yorke because of Mikael Forssell’s season-long knee injury.
Bruce told the Press Association: “I see every week and every Sunday about someone being linked with wanting to buy Robbie Savage but I’m not looking to sell.
“I keep saying this but I’ve had no conversation with Blackburn or Everton or any other particular club regarding Robbie Savage, not since last summer when Everton approached us.”
Bruce added: “I’m not looking to sell anyone although it looks as if Jesper Gronkjaer will be going (to Atletico Madrid).
“As regards next month, I am exploring options but it is difficult in January to get the player you need even if you have got funds available.
“I’m sure there will be funds available and it’s well documented that I think it is not healthy just to have three strikers.
“But it’s getting the right personnel which is the hard part and clubs are often reluctant to sell in January.
“To find a Christophe Dugarry or Mikael Forssell doesn’t happen every day.”
