Cech still smarting over Henry strike

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech insists referee Graham Poll (pictured) must be suffering “an uneasy conscience” after allowing Thierry Henry’s free-kick at Highbury, but he admits any appeal would be pointless.

Cech claimed Poll promised Eidur Gudjohnsen he would blow his whistle before letting Henry take the free-kick in Sunday’s clash.

Instead, Henry insists he was assured by Poll he could take the free-kick when he wanted to.

Having waited for Gudjohnsen to retreat a few yards, he duly curled his effort into the far corner to put Arsenal 2-1 ahead.

Cech, who was standing by the opposite post, was caught completely off his guard and earned himself a rebuke from captain John Terry.

But the Czech international keeper told website www.idnes.cz : “We could have won. The referee presented Arsenal with a goal. It was shocking.”
