Jose Mourinho's Chelsea reached the quarter-final of the Carling Cup with an extra-time win against Newcastle this evening.

Eidur Gudjohnsen was on as a sub for just three minutes when he finally broke the deadlock in the 100th minute.

Lampard cut out a Newcastle throw-in and found Arjen Robben, who squared it for the Icelander to beat Given off the foot of the post.

Robben sealed victory 12 minutes later with a fine solo run before sliding the ball past Shay Given.
