Burnley send Villa crashing out of Carling Cup

Aston Villa crashed out of the Carling Cup tonight after Robbie Blake inspired Burnley to convincing 3-1 win over the Premiership side.

Blake played most of the game as a lone striker and created his side’s best opportunities in the third round tie at Turf Moor.

He created Graham Branch’s opener but then missed a penalty for the Clarets - but Mo Camara and Jean Louis Valois scored to seal the win, despite Juan Pablo Angel’s consolation.
