Eriksson adopts attacking approach

Sven-Goran Eriksson threw a three-pronged strikeforce into today’s World Cup qualifier against Wales at Old Trafford, with Wayne Rooney in behind Michael Owen and Jermain Defoe.

With Steven Gerrard and Wayne Bridge missing through injury, the England coach decided against using Joe Cole and instead went for a diamond-shaped midfield.
