Ronny Johnsen was on Tyneside today to discuss a transfer to Newcastle on a short-term contract.

The 35-year-old former Manchester United and Aston Villa defender was at the club’s training headquarters undergoing fitness tests and discussing the possibility of joining the Magpies as they attempt to cover for the loss of Jonathan Woodgate to Real Madrid.
