Roma have appointed former Germany coach Rudi Voller as their new boss.

Roma have appointed former Germany coach Rudi Voller as their new boss.

Voller, who resigned his post with Germany after Euro 2004, has spent the day in the Italian capital discussing the move and the club have confirmed he will be presented to the press at 5.30pm local time.

Voller succeeds Cesare Prandelli as coach after he stepped down for family reasons following a brief spell in charge.

“I am ready to start working as soon as possible with the Giallorossi squad,” said Voller at Fiumicino airport on his arrival in Italy.

The 44-year-old, who spent five seasons at Roma during an illustrious playing career, has reportedly agreed a two-year contract.

“Roma and Italy have always been in my heart,” said Voller.

“I know the role as coach is a totally different experience but I hope I can do my best.”
