Longford's Barrett gets ban

Longford Town's FAI Cup hero Shane Barrett has been handed a one-match ban in the latest round of suspensions issued by the eircom League’s disciplinary commission.

Barrett, who scored both goals in his side’s final win over St Patrick’s Athletic last October, found the net for the first time since November on Tuesday night as his late header broke the deadlock against Shamrock Rovers to send the midlanders into the quarter-finals.

Barrett, though, has reached four penalty points and he was today suspended for one match, effective from September 8.

With no games scheduled for the weekend of September 10/11/12, that means Barrett will miss Longford’s trip to Drogheda United on September 17.

Bohemians will be without defender Colin Hawkins the same weekend when the Gypsies take on Cork City at Dalymount Park.

Hawkins has also reached four penalty points, automatically incurring a one-match ban.
