Burke on special diet
Rangers winger Chris Burke has been put on a special diet after collapsing in the first game of the season.
The Scotland Under-21 international was stretchered off having fainted early in the second half of his side‘s goalless draw at Aberdeen on August 7.
He has not played since and has lost four kilograms because of the problem, which is thought to be due to a virus.
The 20-year-old has been ruled out of tomorrow night‘s Champions League qualifier with CSKA Moscow and is unlikely to feature at Celtic on Sunday either.
Rangers manager Alex McLeish told rangers.co.uk: “Burkey has lost something like four kilos in weight and therefore he is short of strength.
“He has been given a special course of vitamins and iron to improve the minerals in his body, which will help him get his strength back. The virus has hit him hard and we have to be careful with him.”
Burke had travelled to Moscow for the first leg, which the Russian champions won 2-1.
But his condition worsened there and he had to be kept in isolation to prevent other players from becoming infected.
