Keane picks up injury in Spurs defeat

Rangers 2 Tottenham 0

Robbie Keane was stretchered off in the first half with ankle ligament damage as Spurs went down to Rangers last night.

Goals from new Rangers strikers Nacho Novo and Dado Prso ensured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Spurs.

New signings Alex Rae, Jean-Alain Boumsong and Marvin Andrews also impressed on a night when Spurs were always second best.

Jacques Santini, who arrived at White Hart Lane after stepping down as France coach after the Euro 2004 finals, now faces a striking crisis.

Keane was stretchered off in the first half with ankle ligament damage and is now a severe doubt for the opening day clash with Liverpool next month.

Santini said: “Robbie has a problem with his ankle but we have not seen the doctor. But I think that when the doctor does see Robbie he will say it is a serious injury.”
