Shels add new blood to League campaign
Runaway league leaders Shelbourne will have two new weapons in their armoury tonight when they take on tenants Shamrock Rovers at Tolka Park (7.45pm).
Former Republic of Ireland international Alan Moore and ex-youth and U21 international goalkeeper Dean Delaney both come into contention for places this evening as Pat Fenlon’s side look to extend their advantage at the top of the eircom League premier division to 15 points at the halfway stage of the season.
Ex-Middlesbrough and Burnley player Moore, 29, had to wait to for his contract with Sheffield Wednesday to expire on June 30 before turning out in his hometown for Shels.
Former Everton man Delaney was in a similar position having been released by Port Vale and Fenlon said both players “could be involved” tonight.
The manager will be missing the suspended Stuart Byrne and hamstring injury victim Tony McCarthy.
Rovers could be without midfield trio Paul Caffrey (knee), Derek Tracey (groin) Mark O’Brien (hamstring).
Caffrey is definitely out with a knee problem while fellow 19-year-old O’Brien (hamstring) and veteran Tracey (groin) are rated as doubtful by manager Liam Buckley, who also has Jason McGuinness suspended.
