David Beckham and John Terry were today passed fit to take their places in England’s Euro 2004 quarter-final clash against Portugal.

Beckham sustained a knock in the final group game against Croatia to the same ankle that had previously been troubling him but insisted that “it’s not a problem“.

Terry, meanwhile, jarred his knee in Monday’s game but joined Beckham and the rest of his team-mates for today’s training session at the Stadium of Light.

Sven-Goran Eriksson is tomorrow set to name an unchanged line-up for the third consecutive game, with Owen Hargreaves again ready to take his place on the bench after recovering from a stomach upset.

Nicky Butt was also involved today as he continued his rehabilitation from a knee injury and is still hoping to be in contention for a semi-final place if England defeat Portugal.

Probable team: James, G Neville, A Cole, Terry, Campbell; Lampard, Gerrard, Beckham, Scholes; Rooney, Owen.
