Cristiano Ronaldo will not be suspended for Manchester United’s first game of the 2004-05 season after his sending-off against Aston Villa last month was reduced to a caution.

The Portuguese winger, who starred for United in their 3-0 FA Cup final win over Millwall, was sent off by referee Rob Styles for two bookable offences at Villa Park.

Styles rescinded the first booking for diving, but a yellow card for time-wasting stands.
