Patrick Vieira today threw down the gauntlet to England’s strikers and claimed Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney will struggle to breach the French defence.

England meet France in their opening game of Group B on Sunday evening in Lisbon and Arsenal captain Vieira has taken heart from his side’s defensive display in a 1-0 victory over Ukraine on Sunday.
